Education Requirements:
- Associate degree in a health-related field that leads to employment in a patient care facility such as a hospital or clinic.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Nursing, Health Sciences, Animal Science, or related field.
OR
- Employment in a patient care facility such as a hospital or clinic combined with education, training, and tested experience preparing a person for the occupation totalling 7 years or 14,000 hours.
Ocupational Requirements:
- 2 years or 4,000 hours in a target job for the course or courses being taught, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment.
- 1 year (2,000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to the date of appointment.
- 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience means 8 semesters of part-time teaching or 4 semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited post-secondary degree granting institution.
