Overview

Position will plan and teach traffic safety curriculum to include the areas of Group Dynamics and Multiple Offender Program. Related duties include classroom facilitation; participation in division and department activities, Department of Transportation Mandatory Instructor biannual meeting, and the performance of duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide instruction for assigned classes.
  2. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  3. Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  4. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
  5. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles.
  6. Utilize supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods, including course modalities to enhance student access and engagement.
  7. Remain current on curriculum content in the discipline and use of continuous quality improvement techniques and foster current evidence-based program assessment and improvement.
  8. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.

Qualifications

Must have at least 2 of the following qualifications:

  1. Traffic Safety Experience equaling either two (2) years occupational experience or comparable amount of education and occupational experience; have monitored a WTC general traffic safety course or 45 hours of traffic students or accident prevention course.
  2. AODA experience equaling two (2) years of occupational experience or comparable experience and education or completed 45 hours of course work within AODA education or treatment.
  3. Group Process Experience equaling two (2) years occupational experience in group process work or group counseling as treatment or education professional or Completed a minimum of 45 hours of course work within group work methods, group counseling, or group process.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience,
  2. Previous teaching experience in Traffic Safety Desired.
  3. Bilingual in Spanish Desired
