Overview

Blackhawk Technical College is currently seeking to engage Part-time Nursing Instructors into our Associate Degree of Nursing Program. Class assignments and locations may vary from term to term. The instructor may be asked to teach at various clinical sites within the district.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide instruction for assigned classes, with accountability to entire program; i.e., classroom, laboratory and clinical.
  2. Provide on-site office hours during clinical teaching times, and classroom and laboratory times.
  3. Remain current with industry needs to assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
  4. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  5. Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  6. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices, and according to state regulations.
  7. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Learning Resources staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  8. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
  9. Maintain course curriculum following state guidelines.
  10. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a Master’s of Nursing program with anticipated completion of program within 12 months.
  2. Two years (4,000 hours) of nursing experience, of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within the five years prior to date of appointment. One year (2,000 hours) of nursing experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the field of nursing within five years prior to the date of appointment.
  3. Current or eligible for Wisconsin license to practice as an R.N. Must be licensed to practice as an R.N. in Wisconsin by the employment start date. License must be unencumbered.
  4. Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  5. Remain current with American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
  6. Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Two (2) years teaching experience (full or part-time) in nursing.
  2. Demonstrated ability to adapt to multiple learning styles.
  3. Experience with on-line or hybrid course delivery and/or other instructional technology.
